Love Island 2022: First look inside the new villa ahead of Series 8 start date

Love Island fans have been given their first glimpse of the show’s villa ahead of the new series starting on Monday.

When the latest intake of sexy singletons rock up for series 8 they will be greeted by the ITV2 dating show’s biggest villa to-date.

The swanky new pad boasts an infinity pool, huge outdoor space with panoramic views of Majorca and even more secret spots for islanders to get up to mischief in.

The villa follows a loose 1970s-style theme with bright orange carpet and funky pink retro lights joining the traditional neon hearts.

There are lots of cheeky slogans and suggestive artwork dotted around to get islanders in the mood.

While the bedroom is larger than in previous years, the six beds now face each other, giving contestants very little privacy.

The fire pit area, where contestants couple up and are dumped from the villa, has been extended and a runway has been installed to intensify the drama.

Executive Producer Mike Spencer said: “They looked at quite a few villas and this was by far the best.”

The view is beautiful, we want people to tune in and say this is Love Island but it’s had a glow up.

“It’s slightly bigger, it’s a similar pool size but the space around it is bigger,” he added to the Mirror.

A bigger villa means the show has had to beef up security after becoming a target for intruders over the years.

“There are new security measures. We are very conscious of security and we have got a lot of things in place, plus the villa is bigger in size therefore we have more security,” Spencer told the MailOnline.

Love Island revealed the 2022 line-up on Monday and among them are footballer Michael Owen’s daughter, Gemma, 19, microbiologist Dami Hope, 26, the show’s first deaf contestant Tasha Ghouri, 23, and paramedic Paige Thorne, 24.

Nanny Amber Beckford, 24, waitress Indiyah Polack, 23, masters student Liam Llewellyn, 22, Italian-born Davide Sanclimenti, 27, and Ikenna Ekwonna, 23, who works in pharmaceutical sales have also been confirmed.

“We have worked really hard to matchmake this year. I can’t make any predictions but I am hoping there’s someone for everyone. We have done well with types,” a hopeful Spencer told the publication when asked if he thought love would be on the cards for any of the hopefuls.

“We have a good group of people and I know we have ticked off their types in the list. Over the years we have tried to do our best work.”
