Love Island 2022: First look inside brand new villa as countdown to new series begins

The wait is almost over and summer is officially about to start.

Love Island 2022 kicks off in less than one week, on Monday, June 6, and all the preparations have been done, meaning the only thing islanders have left to do is to make their way to the villa!

Yesterday, the names of the 11 new contestants were revealed, so we've all got a good idea of the faces who will be keeping us on the edge of our seats for the next six weeks.

We've got a self-confessed 'Italian stallion', the daughter of English football royalty and even the first deaf person to ever take part on the ITV2 reality dating show.

So the lineup is guaranteed to catch our attention right away.

But one other stunning feature of the series which has got a fresh new look this time round is the home the contestants will be calling their own for the duration of their stay - the villa.

Previous runs were filmed at a property near Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, in the east of the Spanish island, but that was reportedly unavailable this year, so bosses were forced to look for somewhere else.

We've taken a first look inside the brand new six-bedroom luxury accommodation the lucky cast members will be staying in, and it's fair to say we are a tad jealous.

Executive producer Mike Spencer said the new villa was chosen in December and began being redesigned in January.

He added that bosses "looked at quite a few villas and this was by far the best”.

Crew on the programme have been busy getting everything ship-shape at the brand new swanky pad, which boasts a new giant chrome heart which greets incomers at the front of the building over a wooden walkway which leads to the front door.

It also boats the biggest kitchen they've ever had, decorated in a stunning rose gold.

An L-shaped white island with granite units and drawers takes centre stage, making it the perfect place for potential new couples to have a chat, or pals to have a gossip.

Also new for 2022 are a brand new beach hut chair and an updated bedroom, which is sure to see a lot of activity (ahem!).

(ITV)

Keeping in tradition with previous villas, the bedroom is on the ground floor with a selection of double beds that couples will share.

This time round however, the beds will be dotted around and facing each other and not in a line, in order to make the place feel more relaxed, and there's a sofa in there too now, in case anyone needs pulled for a chat.

Giant art-pop portraits adorn the walls, with some showing portraits of lips eating cherries and ice creams and the side tables next to the bed have 'cheeky spoon' printed on them.

Old favourite features also return, but this time better than ever and the gloriously bright living room looks like an Instagram-dream, with white and blue panelling, and an L-shaped white sofa with pink and orange scatter cushions, orange and purple lamps which hand from the ceiling and neon heart shapes in the walls.

On the walls, neon signs saying 'steamy' and 'to the beach' jazz the place up while the new villa has also brought back “the dog house” – a foldout bed in the living room, where islanders who find themselves on the wrong side of their partner can spend the night.

The girls dressing room is upstairs once again, complete with a table of mirrors, and leads out to an enclosed sun terrace overlooking an infinity pool which now features in-water sun loungers.

(ITV)

Wardrobes will be filled with sustainable clothing from Love Island's new sponsor, ebay, and pop art themes and funky neon lights are throughout the villa.

Bosses have also brought back “the dog house” – a foldout bed in the living room, where islanders who find themselves on the wrong side of their partner may spend the night.

The garden now features a variety of seating areas in yellow, blue and pink themes.

Exec producer Mike Spencer said the crew were determined to provide more outdoor seating.

He explained: “It’s the first time, I think, that we’ve designed it more editorially. We know how many chat areas we need, we know you want those places you can sneak off to.”

The bathroom features a roll top bath emblazoned with the slogan 'bubbles for days' in the show's signature scrawl and lots and lots of mirrors.

(ITV)

The hallway which leads to the white staircase is covered in bright red carpet and also features a range of plants. and a gold panel mirror wall.

There is also a huge outdoor daybed which sits in a secluded spot, under a tree at the end of the garden.

There are also some quirky added extras including a bust with an ice cream pushed in his eye and colourful cactus ornaments.

The legendary firepit is of course making a return, as is the gym area, where islanders will no doubt while away their days watching the talent they are sharing a home with.

Love island starts 9pm on Monday, June 6 on ITV2 and ITV Hub episodes are available the following morning on Britbox.
