Louise Thompson battles 'mixed emotions' on return to hospital after traumatic labour

Louise Thompson has opened up about feeling 'mixed emotions' as she returned to hospital following the traumatic birth of her baby son Leo.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 32, who has battled PTSD since giving birth, is still recovering from the "serious complications" she faced during labour.

She and her fiancé Ryan Libbey welcomed their son Leo in November last year, after doctors worked "through the night" to save her.

In a new update on Instagram, Louise revealed she had returned to the very hospital she gave birth in.

The reality star shared a snap as she waited for an appointment at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, admitting: "Back here this morning. Mixed emotions."

Meanwhile, in her latest post today, Louise gave her followers an insight into her recovery journey.

The mum-of-one explained that while her feed may appear flawless, she is still "incredibly fragile on the inside".

Posting a snap of herself and partner Ryan, she continued: "I’m glad that sharing my story has helped normalise some of your problems and helped people feel less alone in their suffering.

"A bucket full of you have asked for a recovery update so here’s a mini one in the small space that the instagram caption limit will allow… Oh and quite a lot of you have asked for more details on what actually happened to me. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to do this right now for 2 reasons."

Louise went on to list: "1. I have a lot of pregnant friends and I don’t want to scare anyone - I would hate to hear my story whilst pregnant.

"2. Apparently I don't know the full extent of what happened to me second time round and I'm not mentally strong enough to go in for my debrief yet.

"I have however been told by one of my mental health doctors that it's worse than what I think I know, and trust me what I do know is absolutely horrendous so let's just assume the worst and I think you're there.

"So how am I? Well. I have mental issues. I have colon issues. I have uterus issues."

In addition, Louise has also began taking new medication escitalopram - an antidepressant - over the past few weeks.

She later wrote: "I’m now having some more regular ptsd symptoms like nasty flashbacks which are a total doddle to deal with when compared to the brain fire hell I experienced before.⁣

"Going to have some diagnostic testing on Wednesday to see what’s going on in my colon. Had pre prep, covid test and assessment today. Hopefully nothing to worry about, will keep you posted.⁣

"Still no period despite the fact I haven’t breastfed for nearly 7 months. Anyone ever experienced this? Have been getting bad aches and pains as if I should have one but still nothing coming out. Have been handed back over to my gp who has referred me for a pelvic ultrasound scan at the end of this month to see what’s going on. Fertility isn’t an issue I’ve had the capacity to think about. I’m more worried about hormones and rarer complications."

Concluding her post, the star said: "Blood tests still abnormal, still bleeding lots from butt and sweating buckets so as you can imagine not feeling so fresh. Realising instagram really isn’t so important in the grand scheme of things!"

Louise previously thanked doctors for "saving her life" following the birth of her first child.

Leo was treated in a neonatal intensive care unit at the time, while Louise was taken to adult ICU.
