Louis Tomlinson teases heartbreaking comeback single 'dedicated to his late mother'

Louis Tomlinson has confirmed the release of his comeback single Two Of Us, which will reportedly see the former One Direction star open up about the death of his mother Johannah Deakin.

The 27-year-old musician shared a teaser clip on Twitter earlier this week, which saw him writing the words “It’s been a minute since I called you” onto a blank piece of paper.

He then posted artwork for the new track soon after, confirming the release date as March 7.

Tomlinson’s mother died of leukaemia in November 26 at the age of 43, and The Sun reports that the lyrics for Tomlinson’s new song drawn upon his experiences of grief and bereavement.

In the first verse, the paper reports that he sings: “You’ll never know how much I miss you, the day that they took you, I wish it was me instead.”

In the chorus, he goes on to vow to be “the best of me” and to keep “living one life for the two of us.”

Tomlinson was spotted filming a video for the new track over the weekend at the Hunslet Club, a youth club in Leeds, with the organisation’s CEO describing him as “a great lad” in a post on Twitter.

The X Factor judge recently revealed that writing the track was like “therapy” in an emotional interview with House of Solo magazine.

“I just feel like, musically, I almost needed to get this song off my chest,” he told the publication.

“People say writing is a part of therapy. In a way, I feel like I’d been avoiding writing this song because I knew I only had one chance to get it right.

“I don’t mean to be too soppy but if Two of Us can help just one other person who’s going through the tough time I went through, that would make me really happy.”

Following One Direction’s hiatus, Tomlinson made his solo debut in December 2016 with Just Hold On, a collaboration with Steve Aoki. He went on to release Back to You featuring Bebe Rexha and Miss You in 2017.
