Louis Tomlinson reckons One Direction's album Up All Night was s**t - despite selling 4.5 million copies.
The singer, 30, along with Harry Styles , Liam Payne , Zayn Malik and Niall Horan were one of the X-Factor's most successful exports.
But Louis was not complimentary about the band's first foray into music.
Speaking on Smallzy's Surgery podcast last week, he said: "Twelve years ago today the band got formed, but the first album was s**t any way."
One Direction went on to release albums Take Me Home in 2012, Midnight Memories in 2013, Four in 2014 and Midnight in the A.M in 2015, before they split in 2016.
With their boyish good looks, the band achieved Beatles-esque status amassing millions of fans around the world.
However after Zayn quit in 2015 the group followed suit a year later, leaving the music industry in shock.
Much has been made of the fractious relationship between the singers with Liam recently sparking outrage when he made a number of controversial comments about Zayn.
Referencing his upbringing and failed relationship with Gigi Hadid while being interviewed by YouTube star Logan Paul - Cheryl's ex didn't hold back.
However, in response to being asked about the drama following the star's savage comments, Louis clapped back at Logan as he joked the 'fishing' had started early on in the interview.
“So the fishing’s begun already. Yeah, I see what you’re doing," he mocked.
“I’m immensely proud, as I know Liam is, I’m immensely proud of those days, obviously. It was an incredible thing to do, especially to do at such a young age. Amazing memories, man, amazing memories.”
Liam was left red-faced recently when he claimed he was the reason the group came together in the first place.
Speaking about his time on the show, he said on Logan's podcast: "From what I've heard, part of the reason One Direction was made was because of Simon's promise to me that, 'In two years, I'll make this work for you'.
"So he started with my face, and then worked around the rest.
"I was the honorary member of One Direction. He told me that story himself at his house."
The cocky comments went viral, even prompting a dig from About Damn Time star Lizzo, who said in a TikTok clip" "I don't know who lied to that poor boy, but he was not the frontman."
And it looks like she may have been right as unearthed footage from the show reveals that Niall was actually the first boy to form the band, followed by Harry, then Louis, then Liam with Zayn completing the line-up.
X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger said of the group: "They're just too talented to get rid of. And they've got just the right look and the right charisma on stage.
"They're like little stars, so you can't get rid of little stars - you put them all together."
