Louis Saha sets Ralf Rangnick his next target for Manchester United

Ralf Rangnick has achieved his first target at Manchester United and must now start to entertain the fans.

That's the verdict from ex-United striker and France international Louis Saha.

Having stepped into the breach when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November, the innovative German has tasted defeat only once in all competitions - sealing FA Cup progress and keeping pace in the Premier League top-four charge.

Some performances during that time have been underwhelming, though, but United did go through the gears to overcome Brentford at the Community Stadium on Wednesday night.

Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford settled the scores in that one.

Next up for United is a mouth-watering showdown with their fellow Champions League contenders West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

So what is the revised target for Rangnick heading into that game and beyond?

Speaking to Genting Casino, Saha said: "The first task of any new manager is to come and find a strong foundation that makes you difficult to beat. In some ways, Ralf has had to be a bit cautious because United were losing games under Ole and he needed to improve the results from day one.

"He did what was necessary for the first five or six games.

"In those first few games, it was all about building a strong base and making United hard to beat. He needs to find the right tactics now where everyone in the team can shine."

Saha added: "There are a lot of different tactical combinations that Rangnick could introduce, but finding the right balance that allows the attacking players United have to shine is crucial and the United fans are so knowledgeable.

"Perhaps they are comparing this team to teams of the past, but this is a different United team in a different era.

"Some of the fans may not be happy at the moment with the style, but I think the fluid attacking football they like to see can come back."
