Louis Rees-Zammit scores maybe his best try yet amid gasps from spectators

Louis Rees-Zammit conjured more magic on Friday night as he scored one of his best tries yet for Gloucester against Saracens.

The Welshman's team may have been blown away in the end, but his sensational score was the highlight of the game, showcasing the remarkable talents that are creating memorable moments on an almost weekly basis right now.

The latest saw Rees-Zammit collect the ball inside his own 22 before skillfully chipping over the onrushing defensive line, gathering the ball, evading one tackle, side-stepping another and galloping home. All this without really breaking stride.

The score drew gasps from the BT Sport commentary box, with pundit Austin Healey saying. "Fourth touch, one try. From nothing. I've said it a lot before the game, you have to get the ball in his hands. It doesn't matter where, it doesn't matter when, he makes things happen.

"I've said it before, he only has one fault in his game. He's not English! I love him, I think he's absolutely brilliant."

The Welshman's efforts predictably went down a storm with viewers at home with many taking to social media to share their appreciation of "a special player". There also appeared to be a nod of respect from Saracens and England outside-half Owen Farrell in the immediate aftermath of the try, which drew a smile.

It was the latest in a long line of wonderful tries for his club since a difficult Six Nations that saw him dropped from the squad entirely against England. You can read how he reacted to that here.

The 21-year-old's impact on the game had been limited as Gloucester toiled against a powerful Saracens side, for who Aled Davies and Nick Tompkins scored in a comprehensive 44-15 victory to reach the European Challenge Cup semi-finals.
