Louis Healy has had a pivotal role in a hard-hitting sexual consent storyline in the new series of Ackley Bridge, with the episodes praised by viewers and critics alike,
As well as appearing on stage alongside parents Denise Welch and Tim Healy in Sunday for Sammy in Newcastle, Louis, now 21, has starred in hit ITV shows Emmerdale and Vera, as well as recently released BritBox original Hotel Portifino.
And last week, the young actor made a return to TV in the fifth run of Ackley Bridge, the Halifax based college drama which made a welcome comeback to Channel 4 after filming was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Rather than airing on a weekly basis, all of Ackley Bridge's new run aired in one week with double bills of episodes across five nights.

And, for those fan s desperate to binge-watch it all in one go, the full series was put on All4 on Monday, July 11, with the most talked about episodes amongst those who've seen them, being the ones concerned with a sexual assault on Marina Perry. The teenager has been at the centre of a dark storyline this time round after she sold naked pictures of herself online in a desperate bid to make money.
Unbeknown to her a boy from a rival school, Josh, had seen her on the app and invited her to a house party, before calling her by her online username and sexually assaulting herself after she told him to stop. After Josh's wealthy father attempted to pay Marina off to retract her allegation, it was Louis' character Jasper who exposed his best friend's appalling actions.
Jasper showed a video of Josh boasting about 'getting what he wanted;' from Marina to her friend Hayley, with Marina then sending the video to her fellow pupils as Josh broke police guidance by showing up at her school to play rugby.
The sexual assault storyline was a lot darker than the usual subject matter covered by Ackley Bridge and, reacted to the episodes, one fan took to Twitter to post: "Wow a rape storyline. This just got dark. Megan has played Marina brilliant this series."
And reacting to Louis' character, another tweeted: "...the world needs more men like Jasper!!!"
