One lucky punter from Kerry scooped a life-changing sum of €156,493 this weekend after matching five numbers and the bonus ball in Saturday's Lotto draw.
National Lottery bosses have revealed that the lucky ticket was sold in Portmagee, on the Iveragh peninsula, and urged local players to check their tickets.
The winning ticket was purchased on the day of the draw at Deo’s Post Office in O’Connell’s Foodstore in Portmagee, Co. Kerry.
The winning numbers in Saturday’s draw were 01, 08, 16, 33, 36, 39 and the bonus was 05.
Mark Conway who runs the store with his wife Emir spoke of his sheer delight at hearing the news of the big Lotto win in his store.
He said: "It’s just fantastic news for our community. The entire area has suffered from continuous storms for the past few weeks, so this is a great bit of news to give us all a lift down here in Portmagee and Valentia Island.
"Given the time of year and of course the recent weather conditions, we haven’t seen too many tourists passing through, so we are hopeful that the winner is local."
He added: "Great news like this travels fast so there will be a great buzz around the area for the next few days! I have no doubt that it will give us all an incredible boost and a reason to celebrate some much needed good news for a change."
The Kerry winner is advised to sign the back of their ticket and to keep is safe. The winner should contact the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to claim their Lotto Match 5+Bonus prize.
While over 100,000 players won prizes across the Lotto and Lotto Plus games in last night’s draw, there was no winner of the €3.7 million jackpot on offer. Wednesday’s Lotto jackpot is set to roll towards an estimated €4 million.
