Lotto results Ireland: Dublin family-run shop that sold €2.3m jackpot winning ticket revealed

A small, family-run newsagents on the southside of the city has been revealed as the store that sold Wednesday's €2.3m jackpot winning ticket.

XL on The Rise in Mount Merrion has been in business for almost 50 years and sold the winning quick pick ticket on the day of Wednesday's draw. The winning numbers were 1, 11, 14, 19, 27, 39 and the bonus was 44.

Owner of XL on The Rise Adrian Peters has been running the shop 38 years and was delighted for the newsagents to get their first Lotto win. “This is our first big Jackpot win, yes.," he said.

"We’re open since 1973, so this year we’ll be fifty years in business. We’re a small family run, local shop in the heart of Mount Merrion.

"We’re surrounded by a cluster of shops like the local hairdresser and chemist. Ah it was great to get the phone call that we’d sold the winning ticket. In these current times, it’s nice to get a bit of positive news.

“I actually forgot to buy my own ticket in the shop yesterday, so on my way home I stopped into a petrol station and bought one. So, I knew straight away when I got the call, it wasn’t me who won! It was very bittersweet! I do wish the winner all the best and I do hope it’s one of our local, loyal customers."

A spokeswoman for the National Lottery said the new Dublin millionaire has yet to come forward to claim their €2.3m prize. She said that the winner should sign the back of their ticket, keep it safe and contact the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie.
