Peter Schmeichel has said Liverpool qualifying for the Champions League makes it more likely that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham will join.
The Manchester United legend was being teased by Jamie Carragher after Liverpool humiliated their fierce rivals with a 7-0 win on Sunday evening at Anfield and it included a jibe about the in-demand Bellingham.
Jurgen Klopp's side's historic win over United moved them up to fifth in the Premier League and just three points behind Tottenham Hotspur in fourth spot. Schmeichel believes the victory was a 'massive step' toward the top four and their pursuit of Bellingham.

Since the turn of the year, it looked as though Liverpool's chances of finishing inside the top four were over, but four wins in five games has catapulted them back in the race.
Schmeichel shared his thoughts on CBS Sports on where he thinks England star Bellingham will end up if he leaves Dortmund in the summer, along with two other clubs he says are interested.
He said: "There is a lot of noise coming around Liverpool that he’s joining Liverpool. What they did on Sunday took them a massive step into this tournament (the Champions League) next year.
"If they are in there, then there is a chance that he will be playing at Liverpool next year. But it’s going to cost them a lot of money because I know clubs like Man United and Real Madrid are in for him as well.”
