Lost Liverpool restaurant 'loved' in the 1990s for its 'smashing food' and 'great prices'

Renshaw Street in Liverpool has seen many restaurants come and go over the years, and in the 1990s, there was one that offered “smashing food” and “great prices”.

Caesar's Palace was an Italian restaurant offering a variety of dishes including pasta, pizza and burgers. The city centre eatery could seat over 300 people, making it the perfect place for large groups to enjoy a meal at a decent price, with most main courses costing less than £10.

Many people deemed Caesar's Palace as a “special occasion place”, only visiting the restaurant for birthdays, anniversaries and work parties. The exterior made it literally look like a palace, with its neon blue lights and large glass windows making the restaurant stand out from the other eateries that lined Renshaw Street.

The interior of Caesar's Palace lived up to the exterior’s hype, with the floor, walls, pillars and tables being made of marble. The restaurant also had large fish tanks which delighted younger diners.

Caesar's Palace boasted a large bar area where people could sip cocktails while having a good natter with friends or family. Some may recall relaxing at the bar and looking out across the restaurant, observing other diners as they tucked into their meals.

Despite its success in the 1990s, Caesar's Palace sadly lost popularity in the 2000s. While other competitors such as Uncle Sam’s moved to other locations in Liverpool, by 2008 Caesar's Palace was no more.
