It's the end of an era this week as owners of an iconic Kilmarnock boozer will pull their last pint.
The Brass and Granite on Grange Street will pull the shutters down in its current guise for the final time on Wednesday as punters face the prospect of drinking elsewhere after almost two decades under the same management.
The pub has been open under its ownership for 18 years – replacing the former site of the Wee Thack back in 2004.
And an emotional post from the outgoing owners reads: "November 10, 2004 – Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Many years serving many amazing customers.
"From Jamie, David, Kelsey, Marylin and Amy it’s time to say goodbye and thank you."
Hundreds of people reacted and commented on the post.
One customer replied: "Good luck to you all for the future. Brass will never be the same again, you will be sadly missed."
Another commented: "Nine years ago today I had my first date with my now husband. Thank you for the memories. Good luck for the future."
Another sad punter added: "Had my first date with wife in here - and many a happy time before and after. All the best to you all. A loss to the town no question."
The future of the pub is unclear but Greene King, who own the building, have confirmed to Ayrshire Live that they are reviewing their options.
A spokesperson for the company said: “With the current agreement at the pub coming to an end this year, we’re reviewing how best to take the pub forward for the community and will be able to update further in due course.”
