Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expressed sympathy and concern for the devastation from the fires and for those who lost loved ones or property. She stated, 'To those who fled their homes, especially those who have lost your homes, our hearts are breaking for you and we stand with you.'
Mayor Bass highlighted the unprecedented nature of the current firestorm, describing it as the 'big one in magnitude.' She pointed out that the hurricane-force winds fueling the fires are occurring in the absence of accompanying rainstorms, exacerbating the already dry drought conditions in the region.

Providing a stark example of the rapid spread of the fires, Mayor Bass mentioned that the Palisades fire grew from 10 acres to 200 acres in just twelve minutes, underscoring the intensity and speed at which the blazes are spreading.
