Los Angeles County’s Third District Supervisor expressed her deep frustration with the county’s emergency alert system after millions of residents in the greater Los Angeles area mistakenly received an evacuation warning alert on Thursday. The alert system is causing confusion and additional panic for communities during this time of extreme crisis.
The Supervisor stated that whatever the cause of the erroneous alert, it is deemed unacceptable. The county’s Office of Emergency Management is actively working to address the issue. An exhaustive after-action process will be conducted to investigate what happened, how it occurred, and why, to ensure that such errors are corrected.
Residents were urged to stay informed by following local news on radio and TV and monitoring emergency.lacounty.gov for updates regarding the fires.
