A relatively quiet Sunday night for firefighters in Pacific Palisades and a significant increase in resources are aiding the Los Angeles County Fire Department in gaining control over a devastating wildfire.
Section Chief Kenichi Haskett reported that within the 22,000 acres affected by the Palisades Fire, there were no calls for service on Sunday. This allowed for a surge in resources, with over 5,200 firefighters now dedicated to the Palisades area.
The availability of aircraft for water and retardant drops on the fire has played a crucial role in containing the main blaze. However, Haskett emphasized the importance of having firefighters on the ground to address hot spots and flare-ups.
While acknowledging the value of aircraft support, Haskett stressed that ground personnel are essential for extinguishing every hotspot effectively.
