Los Angeles City Fire Chief Kristin Crowley emphasized the importance of patience for residents who have evacuated the Palisades Fire area. Despite the desire to return home, evacuation orders and warnings are still in effect due to ongoing threats.
Chief Crowley highlighted the dangers that persist in the area, including active fires, lack of power and water, broken gas lines, and unstable structures. These hazardous conditions make it unsafe for the public to re-enter the community at this time.
Firefighters have been working diligently to contain the fire, with recent favorable wind conditions aiding their efforts in preventing further spread into the Mandeville Canyon area. The Palisades Fire has already burned over 23,700 acres and is currently 11% contained.
Chief Crowley reassured the public that first responders are prioritizing safety and are striving to ensure that the area is secure before allowing residents to return. While acknowledging the frustration of those displaced, she emphasized the need for caution and cooperation to prevent any further harm.
