Lorraine viewers horrified after discovering price of designer 'bin bag'

Lorraine viewers were left flabbergasted today after discovering the extortionate price of what has been dubbed a "designer bin bag".

Host Ranvir Singh - who has been covering for Lorraine Kelly over the summer - was joined by Jo Elvin as they spoke about an unusual new Balenciaga bag.

"Now, there's a new bag that's got everyone talking," she said. "I'm confused by fashion at the best of times but this has got me completely bamboozled."

Jo joked: "How can you be confused by a bag that looks like a bin liner? It's luxury at it's finest! Balenciaga's new pouch bag cost £1,470 each."

"You're having a laugh Jo!" Ranvir exclaimed.

"It's a little bit like a bin liner," Jo agreed. "I have to say they come in four colours - black, white, yellow and blue. Maybe it's my fashion brain but I kind of really want the blue one."

"The other ones look alright," Ranvir agreed. "I'm worried that if you had one and put it down on platform six at a station, turned to get your coffee, it'd be in the bin! The lovely cleaners at the station would have taken it!"

And viewers weren't exactly enamoured with the bag either.

Taking to Twitter, one tweeted: "£1450 for a bag that looks like a bin bag? WTF! #lorraine."

While another commented: "That bag is disgusting. But it will no doubt sellout to people with more money than sense #Lorraine."

Later on in the show, Ross King was left red-faced after accidentally saying that jazz legend Tony Bennett was dead.

The Hollywood correspondent, 60, was speaking about Lady Gaga's role in a new Joker film when he mentioned the singer and called him the "late great Tony Bennett".

Appearing to realise his mistake later, he said: ""Can I just also clarify as well - I did say 'the late Tony Bennett' - Tony has not yet passed away, sorry about that.

"He is still around and is still one of the greats so apologies for people thinking that something had happened there!"

*Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
