Lorraine's budgeting advisors suggest how to slash your broadband bill in half

Budgeting advisors appeared on Lorraine this morning to advise viewers they could cut their broadband bill in half by contacting their provider and asking for a discount if they are on benefits.

Christine Lampard took over ITV's Lorraine this morning as part of an Easter hosting shake-up. She welcomed two budgeting experts who advised viewers how they could save money on everything from fuel to subscription services.

The money experts said collecting coupons for supermarket Co-Op could save shoppers hundreds of pounds a year after noting they can be found both on mobiles and in newspapers. They also said there are several apps available that help find the cheapest petrol prices based on your location.

The budgeting advisors also added viewers would be able to save on their broadband bills by nearly 50%. She said: "Around four million people in the UK are on some kind of means-tested benefit whether that's Universal Credit or Tax Tested Credit or pension credit, they're entitled to a much cheaper broadband deal which could cost £10 or £15 a month.

"If you're thinking 'oh, I'd really love to access one of those', contact your provider. Ofcom, the communications regulator has really clamped down on companies and said they've got to do a much better job on publicising these deals and if you look on the Ofcom website there's a list of all the companies and the packages they're offering with prices and who's eligible."

Christine added that by deleting multiple apps from her phone she saved over £100. She said the apps bought for her children through lockdown were barely used and after cancelling her subscriptions, she cut down on her mobile spending.
