Lorraine Kelly won't do Strictly after Anton Du Beke's comments

Lorraine Kelly has explained why she will never take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

The dancing competition sees celebrities compete with professionals in a variety of routines, in a bid to take home the coveted glitter ball. Famous faces who have taken part over the years include Abbey Clancy, Bill Bailey and Ruth Langsford.

While some of Lorraine's ITV colleagues have had a go on the programme, the 62-year-old today said she could never do the same. She explained her reasons on her self-titled chat show on Wednesday, as she chatted to guests Paul Merton and Suki Webster.

The comedy couple discussed the highs and lows of Strictly with Lorraine, with Suki admitting she would love to take part in the show. Paul and Lorraine, however, had their reasons for turning it down.

Lorraine said: "That, I could never do. I would be so rubbish. Never in a million years", to which Suki replied: "Oh really? I thought everyone would just kill to do it. They dress you in sparkles!"

Lorraine continued: "If I get a few drinks down my neck I'm not bad [at dancing]", to which Paul joked: "It's a bit early isn't it?". He then explained he is "one of those people who just can't dance."

Suki said: "He dances like a wardrobe... on wheels" and Lorraine added: "That's so interesting because Anton Du Beke said the same thing about me. During a break he said 'I can teach anybody to dance' and then he got me up and said it was like dancing with a wardrobe - and then he said it was like dancing with a tree."

Paul Merton added: "There are just some people who can't do it"

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV and the ITV Hub from 9am
