Lorraine Kelly warns GMB host to watch out for job after 'car crash' interview with Matt Hancock

Lorraine Kelly gave a stern warning to Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley following a "car crash" interview with Matt Hancock.

The former This Morning host was on presenting duties alongside Susanna Reid on Tuesday morning. The pair welcomed former Health Secretary to the show and they certainly did not hold back during the intense chat.

And following the conversation, Glasgow-born TV presenter Lorraine suggested Richard should be worried for his job. The 66-year-old questioned the ex-politician's future in showbiz and the I'm A Celeb contestant did not directly decline when asked if he would like to "sit in Richard's chair" as a host of GMB in the future.

Following the interview, Richard and Susanne spoke to Lorraine about what to expect from her show later that morning. But the Scot could not pass up the opportunity to share her thoughts on Matt's appearance, reports the Daily Star.

Prior to the chat between the shots, Susanna said: "Well it's always interesting to see what Lorraine makes of our big interviews.

"And when she shakes her head, you know it's coming."

Lorraine was quick to respond, saying: "I thought you showed great restraint there. Richard, I'd be worried for your job!

"He's coming after you," she exclaimed, before adding: "He didn't say no, did he?"

"I'm perpetually worried for my job so what's new?", she joked.

And Lorraine couldn't help but take a wee swipe: "I think he thought this morning was an audition," as Susanna agreed: "He did not rule it out!", she continued.

The 63-year-old was unable to hide her feelings about the possibility of having her morning check ins with Matt instead of Richard.

"Oh for goodness sake, can you imagine? That would be interesting handovers in the morning!" she exclaimed.

During the GMB interview, the former MP was questioned over why he gifted just three per cent of his I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here fee to charity, instead of the full amount like he promised.

"You gave £10,000 out of £330,000, why not give all of it to charity?", Susanna asked.

"I gave a substantial amount. I think it's still decent and the money I donated is more than my MP salary," he replied.

Viewers were quick to react, taking to social media to share their thoughts on Matt's answers.

One tweeted: "The ultimate #carcrash interview on #GMB this morning! Embarrassing watching Suzannah and Richard talk to Matt Hancock! You could be asking real, and important questions and holding him to account - yet so fixated on money! Really poor interview."

Another agreed: "This is some car crash of an interview #GMB."
