Lorraine Kelly was told by former royal butler Paul Burrell that he is "still devoted" to Princess Diana in a discussion about Camilla being given the title of Queen Consort.
During the chat on ITV's Lorraine show, Paul also said he thought The Queen was coming to the end of her reign.
But some fans were not impressed that he was appearing on TV to talk about the current situation, with some saying it was enough to get them to switch over.
The Queen recently announced: "I would like to express my thanks to you all for your support. I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection that you continue to give me.
"And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service."
Paul told Lorraine: "I'm not stuck in the past at all but I'm still devoted to Princess Diana."
He added: "I see what she is doing and I know she is preparing a smooth path for the transition of this monarchy to the next monarchy.
"Yesterday, I was very sad and I saw a frail queen at Sandringham and I was thinking about the times I was with her and she was strong and fit and healthy and I realise we are coming to the end of the monarchy and she does too."
Lorraine also said the monarch, who is 95 and celebrating 70 years on the throne, "did look thinner and a little bit more frail, but she is an older woman".
She added: "She is radiant and will hopefully celebrate her 70th year on the throne without too many distractions."
Not everyone was happy that Paul was spouting his opinion on the show,
One said: "#lorraine Paul burrow! The man that knows more about the Royals than they do themselves."
Another added: "No wonder i don't watch. Paul Burrell? No thank you #lorraine."
And someone else sneered: "Paul Burrell on #lorraine good enough reason to switch over."
A fourth asked: "Do you have to drag “me me me” Paul Burrell out every time there’s a palace announcement, he really has no place commenting, he wasn’t important to Diana it’s all in his own mind - Loser."
