Lorraine Kelly tests positive for Covid-19 as Carol Vorderman fills in on ITV show

Lorraine Kelly has revealed she has tested positive for Covid-19, with Carol Vorderman filling in on her show.

The host took to Twitter to announce the news, before confirming Vorderman as her replacement until she felt better. Kelly tested positive over the weekend, and it is not known when she will return to the ITV daytime programme.

As reported by The Mirror, while Vorderman is stepping in for the next few days, it is unknown whether another host will take over after this.

Good Morning Britain presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls introduced the temporary host during their own programme. Reid revealed that she was unaware of the switch until she spotted Vorderman in the studio, indicating that it may have been a last-minute decision.

Vorderman explained: "Sadly Lorraine has caught the dreaded you know what, and I'm sitting in for a few days here. But we are wishing her a speedy recovery."

Reid responded: "Yes, get well soon Lorraine," as Vorderman agreed: "Get well soon."

The former Countdown host then joked: "I didn't look like this at five o'clock this morning, that is for sure!"

Kelly revealed on Twitter that she was feeling "not too bad", and thanked Vorderman for filling in during her recovery. She stated: "Well the Covid has finally got me and I tested positive at the weekend.

"Thanks to the vaccine it’s not too bad and I hope to be back at work very soon. Huge thanks to @carolvorders who will be hosting @lorraine until I’m back."

Other than the host switch-up, Lorraine viewers can expect the show to remain largely the same this week, with Vorderman speaking with a variety of celebrity guests.
