Lorraine Kelly issued advice to Prince William and Kate Middleton as they face protests on their latest royal tour in the Caribbean.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently on their week-long Caribbean tour to represent the Queen in celebration of her Platinum Jubilee this year.
The royal couple aren't being welcomed with open arms on their trip as they had to cancel a major visit to a farm in Belize following protests from the local community.
The backlash continued for the future King and Queen as they are now facing further protests with Jamaican campaigners accusing the Queen and her predecessors of perpetuating slavery.
Lorraine addressed the controversy on Monday morning of her ITV show, she said: "It’s very interesting about that small protest though, that didn’t seem to reflect the rest of what’s going on but it will be interesting to see what happens to them the rest of the trip.
"I guess though, they’ve just got to keep smiling and dancing and just ignore it, don’t they?"
Local organiser Laura Cacho, who danced with the future king, said about the couple: "They were shaking their waists like nobody’s business.
"We note with great concern your visit to our country Jamaica, during a period when we are still in the throes of a global pandemic and bracing for the full impact of another global crisis associated with the Russian/Ukraine war," the letter states, according to a section quoted by The Independent.
"We see no reason to celebrate 70 years of the ascension of your grandmother to the British throne because her leadership, and that of her predecessors, has perpetuated the greatest human rights tragedy in the history of humankind."
Viewers at home didn't appreciate Lorraine's advice to the royal couple, and took to Twitter to rant.
One viewer tweeted: " #Lorraine Think it's bad timing people are losing everything during a war the costs of living is going up for people in the UK. William and Kate are touring carribean at the taxes payer's expenses. They only seeing glossy part of the carribean islands. @rjmyers @lorraine "
Another said: "Someone please educate #lorraine who said "for goodness sake everywhere the #Cambridges go on their visits they have to dance". Tell her that it's about respect, that's what we do in the colonial countries. Dance is language of love. Its cultural and when in Rome... #Belize "
A third agreed: " #Lorraine How is this tour benefiting the people of the Carribbean. At moment British media are so focus on how Kate looks oh their dancing with the local people are seeing the beautiful side of Carribbean. Not the reality of Carribbean or people lives. @reallorraine @rjmyers "
Another penned: "Residents of Belize protesting against the royal visit. Lorraine Kelly thinks they should 'keep dancing and just ignore them'. This island is a mess."
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
