Lorraine Kelly said Piers Morgan was 'fired up' as he said he 'waited a year' to make his ITV return. The TV star hasn't been seen on the channel since shortly after his dramatic Good Morning Britain exit last March.
Piers never returned to the ITV news programme after storming off during a heated debate with the show's weatherman Alex Beresford. The pair clashed when Alex challenged comments made in a previous show in which he refused to believe claims made by Meghan Markle in her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Hours after he walked off the ITV set, before briefly returning to finish the show, his permanent exit from the show was confirmed, with him since claiming it was a "farce". However, appearing on Lorraine Kelly's show on Friday, Piers said that he was "cancelled" by GMB because "I didn't want to leave."

During his sit down with Lorraine, the pair was asked to discuss his forthcoming special interview with former US President Donald Trump, his Twitter spat with Caitlyn Jenner, and the issue of transgender athletes competing professionally.
It comes after a promotional video released on Wednesday (April 20) for his TalkTV interview showed Piers and Mr Trump clashing over the latter's claim the last US election was rigged, and appeared to show Mr Trump storming off camera. But overnight, Mr Trump released a statement claiming Piers "attempted to unlawfully and deceptively edit his long and tedious interview with me".
The 75-minute interview, which took place at Mr Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, will be screened on TalkTV on Monday at 8pm. But following the release of Mr Trump’s statement, Caitlyn Jenner said she was cancelling an interview with Morgan planned for next Wednesday in response to Mr Trump's comments over his "repulsive misconduct".
Before the end of the interview, Piers and Lorraine jokingly locked horns as they discussed Piers' departure from GMB over a year ago with the journalist insisting that he never walked out. "It was your fault though because you walked out," Lorraine stressed. "If you hadn’t walked out then it wouldn’t have happened."
"I didn’t walk out," Piers hit back, prompting Lorraine to shout in response: "You did! We saw... there's video evidence!" Piers justified what happened by commenting: "Play the video of me storming back in. I went back in that day."
"That doesn't count," Lorraine laughed as Piers tried to continue: "I had a time out because I wasn't sure..." as a clip of the moment repeatedly played out on screen. Lorraine then said: "There you go. There you are."
"I wasn't sure how I would respond if I stayed," before taking aim at Alex Beresford again. "So, I did walk back in and I did finish that show... I chose not to apologise and to leave."
He also said: "I did love Good Morning Britain, I did love trebling the ratings, I loved all the noise and fun we had and I’m looking forward to having the same success on my show."
Lorraine then attempted to wrap up the interview by telling viewers the details of its launch date. "You'll be watching, won't you?" Piers said to Lorraine before she told him: "You can toddle off now."
"I'm storming off, Piers laughed as he wasted no time in standing up and storming out - clearly as a joke - poking fun at his ITV past. "He's storming off... again!" Lorraine screeched. "He can't help himself."
