Lorraine Kelly shares update on painful eye injury as fan account shuts down over 'hurtful' comments

Lorraine Kelly gave an update on her swollen eye during Monday's Good Morning Britain.

The 65-year-old presenter sparked concern among viewers last week when she appeared with a noticeably puffy face on multiple shows.

Fans took to social media to express their worries after her appearance on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain.

Taking to X, one penned: “@GMB what has happened to Lorraine? Her face and eyes look swollen.”

“What’s happened to Lorraine's face ? Looks like an allergic reaction,” another questioned while a third wrote: “Has she been stung by a wasp?”

Later, on Loose Women, Lorraine explained that she had tripped over a rhino ornament while putting out the laundry, resulting in a black eye after being asked “if she'd had fillers.”

Updating fans on her injury, she was asked by GMB host Susanna Reid how her eye was to which she shared: “You can see Helen has covered it up.

“Our fantastic make-up artist. Helen Hand the magician. It's still quite bad but the swelling as gone down.”

Reid replied: “Last week when we saw you, you looked very weepy,” to which Kelly added: “Yes, swollen.”

Later on during her show Lorraine, the Scottish TV presenter gave more details about her fall, saying, “I was juggling a lot of things, carrying laundry, and then—wham! I fell!"

Dr Hilary Jones joked, “Well, we can’t see it now!” to which she replied, “That’s because Helen covered it up!”

The pair then shared a video showing the spot where the accident happened in her home. Dr Hilary also offered tips on how to treat bruises and what to do if you find yourself in a similar situation.

Her update comes after a social media account that keeps track of Kelly’s absences on her morning TV show has shut down after the presenter described it as “really hurtful”.

LorraineKWatch, which has more than 25,000 followers on X – formerly Twitter, said “the joke has run its course and it is time for it to end” after Kelly spoke about the account during an interview with The Guardian.

She told the newspaper: “It’s really hurtful actually. It really is. I’ve not spoken about it before. I’m a grafter and I work really hard and I’ve had to take Fridays off for the past year. I just thought it was weird to care so much.”

At the end of last year, the account concluded Ms Kelly had hosted 59.7% of the episodes. In a post two days ago, it claimed she had hosted 68.1% so far this year.

Asked why she was taking time off, Kelly said: “Initially, it was for my mum who has been ill. And it sort of brings you into line with everyone else because if you look at This Morning, everybody else does four days.”
