Lorraine Kelly sent home from ITV show set as co-star rushed in to replace her

Scottish television host Lorraine Kelly has been sent home from work at her ITV programme after falling ill.

The ITV presenter has confirmed that she will not appear on screen this morning (February 22), reports the Mirror, with co-star Ranvir Singh has been rushed in as a replacement on the show.

Lorraine was due to host the show on Wednesday, but Good Morning Britain presenters Ed Balls and Kate Garraway confirmed that she had been sent home. The hosts noted that this was the first time, in a long time or maybe ever, that Lorraine had missed presenting her show due to illness.

The Scottish star took to social media to tell followers about her sickness, after she said she had "suddenly been attacked" by the mystery illness.

Taking to Twitter, Lorraine confirmed she was unwell with a "hideous" bug and was gutted to miss interviewing Adam Lambert.

She wrote: "When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT!

"Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him!"

As the GMB hosts chatted about Lorraine, Kate joked that it was a "good job" Ranvir had gotten out of bed that morning - or else there wouldn't have been a show.

This news comes only a few weeks after Lorraine nearly missed her show for the first time after an alarm clock blunder.

In December last year, Lorraine woke up in a panic at 2am, thinking she had missed her alarm - and rushed to get ready. After the rushing around, she checked the time again and realised she had completely misread the clock.

Lorraine then admitted she had slept in after resetting her alarm and had to rush to work to get there on time.

Explaining what happened on Twitter at the time, she wrote at two in the morning: "So this is a first. Woke up - convinced I’d slept in - super fast shower - threw on clothes and then looked at time properly….."

Later, she gave fans an update, revealing she headed back to sleep and ended up missing her actual alarm, adding: "So after getting up early - I’ve managed for the FIRST time to sleep in -YIKES !!!!"

And once Lorraine made it to the show, she explained: "I don't know what happened to me. I woke up at two o'clock in the morning but I thought I was late.

"Maybe I need glasses. But I got up, got ready and wondered whilst all the clocks were at two.

"I thought something was wrong with the clocks. I must have just been in a really deep sleep and then started panicking."
