Lorraine Kelly reveals she was snubbed by Matt Hancock as he declined to 'pop in' to ITV studio

Lorraine Kelly has revealed that she was snubbed by Matt Hancock after he was invited to appear on her ITV show.

This morning (Tuesday), the former Health Secretary appeared on Good Morning Britain to defend the salary he received for taking part in I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! last year.

After the interview, Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley joined up with Lorraine via video link to see what was coming up on her show.

But as the camera cut to the Scots star, she was seen shaking her head.

Susanna said: "It's always interesting to see what Lorraine makes of our big interviews and when she shakes her head, you know it's coming!

Lorraine said that Matt was asked to 'pop in' (ITV grab)

She said: "I thought you showed great restraint there, Richard, I'd be worried for your job!"

Talking about Matt Hancock not saying much on GMB when asked if he was after a job there, Lorraine teased Richard.

"He's coming after you! He didn't say no did he!"

Richard laughed: "No I'm perpetually worried for my job though so what is new!?

Lorraine joked: "I think he maybe thought this morning was an audition, huh? But who knows!

Susanna added: "Don't you think? He did not rule it out!"

Lorraine replied: "He didn't, he didn't for goodness sake, could you imagine? That would be interesting handovers in the morning wouldn't it."

Susanna laughed: "Oh but Lorraine every morning would be worth watching!"

Matt Hancock was quizzed by Kate Garraway whose husband Derek was hospitalised for over a year after contracting covid (ITV grab)

Richard then added: "I'm sure he would keep his distance, Lorraine!"

And Lorraine admitted that he was invited along to her studio.

She said: "I think he has! I mean he did have an invite but funnily enough he didn't pop in and say hello. Oh Jeez!"

Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley grilled him over his stint down under and his public affair. The MP appeared on the show alongside the likes of Mike Tindall, Owen Warner and Queen of the Jungle, Jill Scott and earned £320,000.

Documents published by the Houses of Commons state that Hancock received the eye-watering amount from Lifted Entertainment, ITV, with the fee being registered on January 11, 2023.
