Lorraine Kelly reveals she has regained confidence after losing lockdown weight

Lorraine Kelly revealed she has regained her confidence after losing the weight she gained during the Covid-19 lockdowns.

The TV show presenter dropped two dress sizes and lost 1.5 stone in total.

She has been embarking on a healthy living programme with WW, formerly known as Weight Watchers, since January and has been open up the changes.

The 62-year-old star said that she was 'doing well' with her weight before the lockdown but things changed when she didn't 'enjoy' wearing her clothes when she gained weight.

At her heaviest, Lorraine revealed she was 11st 10 lbs and was 'unhappy' with herself a

She told Metro's SixtySeconds column: "I knew I needed a bit of help, so I joined WW and with the help of others and the app I dropped two dress sizes and managed to get back into my size 10s at the end of January.

"Being able to get back into my size 10 jeans was a big deal! I must have put on more than a stone and a half - I was about 11st 10 lbs - but for me, it was not just about fitting into my posh black frock that wouldn't go over my bottom but about being happy in myself.

"I went to the BAFTAs and really enjoyed the day but I wouldn't have gone to the ceremony in the beginning of January. I just wouldn't have had the confidence to get up on stage. Now I feel like going out again!"

She recently confessed she declined a few red-carpet invitations as her confidence was so low.

Aside from the health benefits, her weight loss has also enriched her relationship – with husband Steve Smith noticing a boost in her energy levels – and even their dogs are reaping the benefits, since she now takes them for long walks to cap off her working day.

She said previously: "There were events I turned down because I thought, “I’m not going to put myself through it.” I would have made an excuse and said no."

"My husband always thinks I’m lovely and, you know, they don’t see your big bottom and tummy. But you know in yourself how you feel. It’s about self-confidence," the presenter added.
