Lorraine Kelly reveals heartbreaking reason she's missing NTAs

Lorraine Kelly has revealed that she intends to skip tonight’s National Television Awards (NTAs).

The Scottish TV presenter, 64, is nominated for her ITV show, but says she can’t face it this year due to struggling with her confidence.

Kelly opened up about her dilemma during Wednesday’s episode of her self-titled talk show to confidence coach Holly Matthews, who was promoting her new book Find Your Confidence.

"It’s the NTAs, and normally I would be going to that and I would usually go," Kelly began.

"I don’t know what it is, but I’m not feeling confident enough to go. That whole red carpet thing is sometimes really scary."

Matthews sympathised with Kelly, telling her: "Yes, you have all the lights on you. And every day, men and women can feel as though they’re being watched, and that everybody is scrutinising them, and that you’re not good enough.

"But in that moment, it’s all about turning that outwards and focusing on conversations that you have with people and what’s going on around you. We’re all in our own heads worrying about our own stuff."

Speaking about Matthew's book, Kelly enthused: "This book really helps - it’s proper advice. It’s common sense."

Kelly - who became a grandmother for the first time last week - has been a regular at the NTAs in previous years and despite not being nominated this year, her friends at fellow ITV daytime shows Loose Women and This Morning are up for the Best Daytime category.

She has also been recently calling on her followers to vote for The Masked Singer as she made a surprise appearance as Owl and guest judged on the show.
