Lorraine Kelly confirmed Carol Vorderman will be filling in for her after she has tested positive for Covid-19.
Taking to Twitter, the ITV host said: "Well the Covid has finally got me and I tested positive at the weekend. Thanks to the vaccine it’s not too bad and I hope to be back at work very soon. Huge thanks to @carolvorders who will be hosting @lorraine until I’m back.!"
Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls introduced her replacement during their own show on Monday, as Carol confirmed what was coming up on the show. Carol stepped in to host at the last minute, and even Susanna confessed she didn't think she was hosting the show until she spotted her in the studio.
Responding to Susanna, she explained: "We didn't think so either but sadly Lorraine has caught the dreaded you know what, and I'm sitting in for a few days here. But we are wishing her a speedy recovery."
Susanna said: "Yes, get well soon Lorraine," as Carol echoed: "Get well soon." Carol then joked: "I didn't look like this at five o'clock this morning, that is for sure!"
In an Instagram post, Lorraine said she is 'thankful to the scientists who developed the vaccine' after testing positive for the virus. Fans flocked to the comments to send her well-wishes.
One wrote: "Get better soon and enjoy the puppy cuddles. Feel your pain currently and thank god for the vaccines. Mowdie and Midge send their love" Another penned: "So sorry to read this hope you’re ok. Wishing you a speedy recovery X"
A third said: "Thank heavens for the vaccine, had my 4th in March and as soon as I can get a 5th then I will. Anything to stay well. Get well soon." One tweeted: "Lorraine it finally got me too! Mine is 2 days of 38.5 temperature and weakness. Today its like a heavy cold. Had 4 vaccines but months ago. How about you? Wishing you a speedy recovery! Love seeing you in the mornings"
