Lorraine Kelly misses show second day in row after falling ill with ‘hideous bug’

Lorraine Kelly was absent from her ITV morning show for a second day after coming down with a “hideous bug” ahead of Wednesday’s installment.

Fellow ITV host Ranvir Singh came to Kelly’s rescue on Wednesday to cover for her last minute and stepped in again on Thursday to host Lorraine as the 63-year-old recovers at home.

Teeing up the latest show, Singh joked to her Good Morning Britain colleagues, Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard, that she was thrilled to have more time to prepare, having only got the call to cover the previous day 90 minutes before the show aired.

The 45-year-old said: “Lorraine is still recovering, I got in for 6:30 today so I should be fully prepared for the show today as opposed to yesterday!”

On Wednesday, the Scottish presenter prewarned viewers that she wouldn’t be fronting her usual slot after falling ill suddenly.

Taking to Twitter, she shared her disappointment about being unable to interview singer and former American Idol star Adam Lambert.

She tweeted: “When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT!

“Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him!!!!!!”

After sharing her social media post, fans and her famous friends were quick to wish her a speedy recovery.

Singer Aled Jones commented: “Get well soon lovely x.”

While a fan wrote: “Oh no! That IS disappointment indeed. He is amazing!!! But thank you for protecting @adamlambert and hope you feel better soon.”

“Sorry to hear that Lorraine @adamlambert is SO missing out. Get well soon,” another shared.

A third added: “Oh no get well soon @reallorraine – Just means you will have to invite @adamlambert back.”
