Lorraine Kelly issued a crushing verdict about Boris Johnson's resignation speech and expressed her shock at reports of a wedding party at Chequers.
At lunchtime yesterday, Mr Johnson launched straight into his speech to the nation, announcing in little more than six minutes that he had agreed to make way for a new Conservative Party leader and, eventually, Prime Minister.
In his speech, he revealed his unhappiness with the actions of the stream of MPs who had deserted his Government over the last two days.

He said: "The herd instinct is powerful and when the herd moves, it moves", adding "them's the breaks". Prior to Mr Johnson's speech, Lorraine was airing on ITV, but was pulled when news broke of the Prime Minister's resignation.
Lorraine had invited a "psychic" pig onto its show who walked towards a sign saying "Go" when asked whether Mr Johnson will resign. Lorraine said: "Well I think that's pretty definitive, the psychic pig has spoken."
Five minutes after the psychic pig segment, Boris Johnson announced his resignation and Lorraine was cancelled. Introducing today's show, Lorraine played Sarah Brightman's 'Time To Say Goodbye'.
She started the show by saying: "Boris Johnson is set to leave No 10...eventually."
Lorraine continued: "As you would expect Boris Johnson's resignation is making all the front pages, with the Mirror saying he is clinging on for one last party. Joining me now, the Sunday Times political editor Caroline Wheeler and editor of the Daily Mirror, Alison Phillips.
"Caroline first of all I wondered what you made of that speech, there wasn't really an apology in there was there?"
Ms Wheeler agreed Mr Johnson could have made a more statesman-like speech and didn't address any of the controversies. Lorraine was also shocked at the Mirror's exclusive which suggests Mr Johnson wanted to stay on as a caretaker prime minister in part so he could host a wedding party at Chequers.
Although this claim was denied by Downing Street, the Mirror said it was told by two separate sources that the pair were keen to go ahead with the celebrations.
Lorraine said: "We're told he wants to have a big wedding, he's already married but he wants to have a giant second wedding party."
Ms Phillips explained how the Mirror believes wedding invitations have already been sent out, therefore Mr Johnson and his wife Carrie wish to plough on with their plans.
Lorraine said: "Right, that is quite fascinating...that is so bizarre."
