Lorraine Kelly favourite to be named as host of ITV's middle-aged Love Island

Lorraine Kelly could be named as the host of ITV's middle-aged Love Island, if predictions are correct.

The Scots queen of daytime TV is currently the favourite to front the dating programme which has been announced by the broadcaster and will focus on older contestants.

ITV bosses have finally confirmed that they are looking to begin production earlier this week after months of speculation.

Channel bosses say that they're looking for "vibrant single parents" to audition for their show, called The Romance Retreat, but there's no confirmation as to who will host it.

Bookmakers Coral currently have Lorraine 2/1 to take on the role. Phillip Schofield, Rylan Clark and Claudia Winkleman are also in the running.

A betting source said: "Lorraine Kelly is the Queen of morning television, and we make her the favourite to host this Love Island spin-off for older contestants.

"With such a familiar face for the contestants to interact with, we think Lorraine would be the perfect choice."

The blurb for the programme reads: "ITV1 are looking for vibrant single parents from across the UK who are in search of love, for a brand new dating show!

"This is the ONLY dating show where single parents can search for love, by spending time in a luxury retreat, where all the parents have been nominated by their grown up children."
