Lorraine Kelly calls Matt Hancock a 'pound shop Milk Tray Man' after his latest podcast

Lorraine Kelly called Matt Hancock a "pound shop Milk Tray Man" as she took a swipe at his latest podcast.

Former Health Secretary Matt Hancock had to resign last year after he was disgraced following leaked CCTV footage.

The clip taken on May 6 2021 showed him in an alleged clinch with adviser Gina Coladangelo in his Whitehall office.

It was taken at a time when indoor social gatherings of people from different households were legally banned.

Government guidance was urging people to keep to the two metres apart rule and avoid "face to face contact", and he broke his own rules regarding Covid.

Matt had managed to keep his job initially and Boris Johnson came under fire for failing to sack him.

However, Matt resigned shortly after and admitted he broke the rules.

Now in a new podcast for Diary of a CEO Matt, wore a navy polo neck - and claimed he "fell in love" defending himself and claiming he didn't actually break the law.

Lorraine Kelly remarked in response: "Yeah. That is Matt Hancock, remember him? Former Health Secretary talking to Dragon's Den star Steven Bartlett about his resignation last year.

"I don’t know what he’s come as. He looks like a Bond villain or a pound shop Milk Tray Man, maybe."

She added: "So he fell in love, but lots of people who were in love with each other weren't able to see each other during that time, weren't they?"

Matt Hancock told the podcast: "We fell in love and that's something that was completely outside of my control.

"Of course I regret the pain that's caused and the very, very public nature - anybody who has been through this knows how difficult it is, how painful it is."
