Lorraine has since taken to Twitter to revealed she was unwell with a "hideous" bug.
"When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT! Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him !!!!!!" she wrote.
She was flooded with well wishes from friends and fans, as many rushed to tell her to get well soon.
When Lorraine began at 9am, Ranvir was in her seat and promised a packed show.
Speaking on the programme, she revealed to Kate and Ed as the shows crossed over: "I got a call from the editor at 7.18 and I was on the train at 7.30," before sending her love and best wishes to the presenter.
It comes only a few weeks after Lorraine nearly missed her show for the first time ever after an alarm clock blunder.
Explaining what happened on Twitter at the time, she wrote at two in the morning: "So this is a first. Woke up - convinced I’d slept in - super fast shower - threw on clothes and then looked at time properly….."
Later, she gave fans an update: "So after getting up early - I’ve managed for the FIRST time to sleep in -YIKES !!!!"
Having made it to her show, she explained: "I don't know what happened to me. I woke up at two o'clock in the morning but I thought I was late. Maybe I need glasses. But I got up, got ready and wondered whilst all the clocks were at 2. I thought something was wrong with the clocks. I must have just been in a really deep sleep and then started panicking."
