Lorraine Kelly admits she's hungover on air after partying all weekend for anniversary

Lorraine Kelly admitted she was a touch hungover as she presented her ITV morning show on Monday morning after a weekend of celebrating her 30th wedding anniversary.

The 62-year-old made the admission to GP Amir Khan on the ITV show as the pair discussed possible hangover cures.

Speaking from his surgery, Dr Amr said: “Lorraine, you're looking lovely, but I’ve got to say you’re looking a little bit tired. Have you been partying too hard?”

Lorraine replied with a nod as she then admitted to ‘partying all weekend’ after her daughter Rosie threw her and her husband Steve Smith a surprise anniversary party.

She said: “My little brother came over from Singapore with his lovely girlfriend Anisa. So many people were there and I had absolutely no idea. It was lovely.

“All the attention to detail – even the flowers Rosie had done were the flowers that were in my bouquet 30 years ago. It was so lovely.”

Dr Amir replied: “How gorgeous. Are you a little bit hungover then Lorraine? There’s a glass of wine in each one of those photos.”

Laughing, Lorraine said: “Yes and it wasn’t the same one, I have to say. It went on. We had the lovely John Kelly – no relation, but he kind of is like my brother – and he threw us another party yesterday.

“Because you know when you have a party and you have tons of booze left, so you don't know what to do? Then, you have another one. It was great. Really good.”

She then asked: “But hangover, tips, what would you say? I usually have a big sausage and an Irn-Bru – other soft drinks are available.”

Lorraine has been married to TV cameraman Steve since 1992 after the pair met when he worked as her cameraman on TV-am.

The journalist reported, from the first moment she saw him, she knew he was ‘The One’.

Lorraine said: “He walked into the TV-am office where I was working as a reporter and he was part of the crew, and I thought, ‘That'll do, I'm having that’.”

She said: “We were friends for a good year, then it all happened rather quickly when we had to do a shoot on location at Glencoe.

“We were staying in a tiny hotel in the middle of nowhere and I got him incredibly drunk on tequila before making my move.

“The way I remember it is that I leapt on him like a ninja and he had absolutely no defence!”
