Former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius believes there is 'no limit' to what his new side Newcastle United can achieve - and insists they have a 'unique' feeling of togetherness.
The 29-year-old left Liverpool in the summer upon the expiry of his contract but has since signed a short-term deal with Eddie Howe's team until January 2023. Making his Newcastle debut on Thursday evening, the German shot-stopper played 45 minutes in a 5-0 win over Al Hilal in Riyadh.
Albeit just a friendly, Karius will be keen to be back playing, having barely featured for Union Berlin during his loan spell back in the Bundesliga last season. Believing the Magpies can go on to achieve great things this season, the ex-Mainz keeper was quick to talk up their chances.

"We have no limit, to be honest," Karius told Newcastle's website when asked about their Premier League target. "It's important we get a good start... and I'm positive we can achieve great things this season.'
''I think the group has such a strong togetherness that's very unique - and that's what makes me positive that we will carry on the way we started before the break."
Hoping to benefit from his time on Tyneside, Karius added: "It's been all positive. We're going to have some talks and see what we're going to do, but of course I can see myself here for longer and push [on] and hopefully get some more appearances in the future - also competitive."
Ahead of the return of English top-flight football later this month, the Magpies are third in the Premier League table after an excellent start to the campaign. Liverpool are eight points further back in sixth and have work to do on their return if they are to secure Champions League football next season.
Karius played 49 times for the Reds across the 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns, with his last appearance coming in the 3-1 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in Kyiv, where his errors led to two goals.
