Loose Women viewers were not impressed with Denise Welch on Tuesday as she shared her opinion on the idea of NHS doctors going on strike.
The former Coronation Street star joined Charlene White, Brenda Edwards and Janet Street-Porter on the ITV panel show to discuss some of the latest headlines.
Starting the conversation, Charlene said: "Following last week's rail strikes, it's doctors now. They're threatening to do the same unless they get a pay rise of up to 30 per cent."
She then asked Denise: "But do you think it's justified?"
Denise replied: "Well, I can't think of anything worse than the doctors, or anybody in the NHS, going on strike at this time when the NHS is in such a crisis.
"As, of course, it was before Covid, but Covid - in my humble opinion - was a great excuse to blame everything on Covid for the disaster of the NHS. I mean, they got rid of beds...
"A&E is completely overrun because people still aren't able to get what they want, which is a face-to-face appointment with a GP and we know that is generally being phased out."
Denise continued: "We've always known that NHS staff are hugely underpaid, and I'm talking about nurses, I'm not that qualified to talk about what doctors' pay is.
"But unfortunately, as with the rail strike, we can think how awful it is and how it's gonna affect our life, but having spent the greater part of last year in and out of hospitals when I was allowed to be with my father, I saw some wonderful, wonderful work done but I saw the NHS in a disastrous state.
"Unless these things happen, is there going to be change?" she added.
When Janet claimed that "suffering is the new norm", Denise said: "There were people crying out in beds and when we went to find a nurse, they were so upset that that had happened because they said, 'we spend every single minute at our computers', because they've got so much protocol and bureaucracy."
Viewers tuning in at home were not impressed with Denise's comments at all and took to Twitter to comment.
"B*llocks do nurses spend every single minute at their computers while patients cry out in pain. Denise Welch is a dangerous woman with the cr*p she spouts. #LooseWomen," one person fumed.
Another viewer tweeted: "Denise is talking like Nurses and Doctors are busy buying new clothes on ASOS whilst patients need help. More misinformation spreading #LooseWomen."
A third person posted: "You aren't qualified at all Denise. What are her qualifications? #LooseWomen."
And a fourth claimed: "Denise doesn’t care about people getting and dying from covid as long as she gets to do what she wants and go on holiday. Her covid rants and misinformation spreading that is still going on is insane. #LooseWomen."
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
