Loose Women ’s Gloria Hunniford told her fellow ITV presenters she is ‘desperate’ for a facelift during the latest instalment of the lunchtime show.
The TV presenter was in the ITV studio alongside host Ruth Langsford and panellists Denise Welch and Janet Street-Porter on Tuesday afternoon.
They were discussing the criticism towards Madonna for her appearance, after she presented a segment at the 2023 Grammys over the weekend.
The Vogue songstress, 64, took the stage to introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith for their Unholy performance when viewers commented on her look – specifically her face – on social media.
Yet the women on the Loose Women panel were quick to note Madonna would have likely faced blowback if she had decided to embrace her age and let her hair go grey, for example.
Gloria said: “I’m generalising, but I think there’s a desperation about people when they go too far, even if they are in showbusiness.
“You can say you’re in showbusiness, so you can reinvent yourself however you want to be.”
She then added: “To be honest with you I'm desperate for a face lift. Denise is even more desperate than I am.”
Denise looked immediately keen as she turned to host Ruth and asked if she also wanted a facelift, to which she said she would like a cosmetic lift on her neck instead.
Denise then joked: “The three of us would like a job lot done. If we all go together we can just say it was the lighting.”
As the panel then compared what work they would like done on their faces – with Janet staunchly refusing any cosmetic interventions – Ruth interrupted to say: “We haven’t got time to list the bits we all want done. We’d be here all day.”
Loose Women panellist Carol McGiffin has previously opened up about her own facelift and her husband’s initial reaction to it, during an episode of the show.
The blonde journalist and author, 61, has been married to Mark Cassidy, who is 22 years her junior, since 2018.
Speaking to fellow stars Denise, Kaye Adams and Linda Robson, Carol reflected on how much she felt she ‘needed’ the procedure for her own empowerment.
"He didn't want you to have it done," Denise began. "He didn't want me to have it. He really didn't and he just doesn't think any of that stuff is necessary. But I really needed to have it.”
