Loose Women star, Denise Welch has talked about her stalking ordeal with her fellow panellists on the ITV lunchtime show. Welch, accompanied by Charlene White, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore, chatted ahead of National Stalking Awareness Week (April 25-29) after a man was jailed for seven years for stalking the actress and presenter.
In September last year, Toraq Wyngard admitted stalking the Loose Women star and setting a fire on her driveway. He targeted the actor between September 18, 2020 and February 11, 2021 and was sentenced earlier this month. During the case, a court heard that £4,285 of damage was caused by the blaze, which spread to the garage attached to the couple's house.
Of the ordeal, Welch said: “It’s been a pretty horrendous time for everybody.” She described how her family had discovered the offender through the house’s CCTV on a phone. Wyngard was arrested within two hours of the incident. He was bailed after that arrest and following this Welch spoke about how the same offender had later graffitied the words, ‘pimp’ and ‘witch’ across the star’s gate.
Welch continued: “It emotionally terrorises you. My husband and I have to be apart for work reasons and I have never been scared. This all changed that.”
