Ruth Langsford has once again shut down an accusation made against her earlier in her career, hitting out at a comment that she only got into TV because of her relationship with Eamonn Holmes.
Ruth returned to Loose Women after an extensive break on Tuesday, explaining to her co-stars and viewers at home that she'd taken some time off to look after Eamonn, after he underwent an operation on his back and then suffered a nasty fall down the stairs at home just days later. The couple's tough Christmas was then made worse by the fact that Eamonn's mum passed away in the middle of everything, but Ruth did offer some positive news, informing everyone that Eamonn was 'on the mend.'
Eamonn's name cropped up in conversation again on Wednesday's Loose Women when Ruth and panellists Frankie Bridge, Carol McGiffin and Kelle Bryan discussed people's opinion on nepotism, after it emerged that younger people have hit out at stars like Lily Rose Depp and Zoe Kravitz for 'using' their parents' fame to further own careers.

Ruth asked the panel for their opinions on the matter and if they had ever been accused of it. Carol talked about how people had openly said to her that she only got certain jobs because of her ex Chris Evans and it was then that Ruth, who has been working in television for decades now, relived a accusation levelled at her.
She told the panel: "When Eamonn and I were first together and I've been in television as long as he has, regionally and he was obviously doing more network stuff; I had people believe that I got into television because I started seeing Eamonn Holmes. It used to make me furious, as I'd been doing this a long time."
