Loose Women's Ruth Langsford in dig at Eamonn Holmes as spat with Phillip Schofield continues

Ruth Langsford took aim at Eamonn Holmes on today's edition of Loose Women as she made a dig about his cooking skills.

The former This Morning hosts have been married since 2010. ITV's flagship daytime programme has been hit with controversy as Phillip Schofield quit ITV last week.

The 61-year-old exited after he admitted having an affair with a runner while working on This Morning. Mr Holmes has waded into the incident with a number of public attacks aimed at Mr Schofield.

Mr Schofield responded to his critics today on Instagram as he shut down claims This Morning is a toxic work environment. he said: "Now I no longer work on This Morning I am free to say this. I hope you have noticed that it's the same handful of people with a grudge against me or the show who seem to have the loudest voice.

"This Morning is the best show to work on, with the best people. In all the years I worked there there was no toxicity. You can listen to those persistently loud voices if you like. But the thousands of guests over the years, thousands of staff and crew, hundreds of presenters and contributors all know, it is a family of wonderful, talented, kind, hard working people."

The Northern Irish broadcaster continued the spat as he took to Twitter to issue a response. He said: "Schofield has just put out a delusional statement. Like Holly he puts it on Insta Stories so if it goes wrong there is no record after 24 hrs. I'm reluctant to give the liar any more publicity but believe me Pip if you are looking for a fight, you have picked on the wrong person!!"

Ruth has remained tight-lipped over the ongoing controversy and returned to host Monday's edition of Loose Women. She brought up her husband as they discussed the warm weather that hit the UK over the weekend.

The scorching conditions sparked a conversation on BBQs and Ruth took aim at her husband's cooking skills. She said: "I know I am stereotyping here but in my circle most men, husbands, who don't go anywhere near the kitchen for the rest of the year, including my husband, suddenly think they're Ainsley Harriott when there's a BBQ."
