Loose Women's Ruth Langsford gives update on Eamonn Holmes after 'terrible' year

Ruth Langsford returned to Loose Women today after a lengthy absence.

She explained she was forced to take time off to look after her husband, Eamonn Holmes. He had a terrible end to 2022 as he faced health issues, falling down the stairs and the loss of his mum.

Carol McGiffin said: "It's nice to see you Ruth. Where have you been? You've been away for a long time."

Ruth replied: "I've been absolutely fine, thank you for asking. It's Eamonn obviously. It's no secret that he was struggling with bulging discs and then he had a back operation, which was a nerve wracking moment.

"And then a few days after that he fell down the stairs and broke his shoulder. So it's been a really difficult time. So I took some time off, really, to be at home and look after him. And then very sadly his mum passed away in the middle of all that so it's been a terrible time."

Carol said: "That's a lot of bad luck isn't it?" Ruth agreed as she added: "These things don't often come along do they?"

They all said that 2023 shouldn't get any worse for Ruth and her husband as she said: "Hopefully not."

She added: "Thank you for everyone who was worried, but it wasn't me. Eamonn is on the mend, so all good."
