Loose Women's Ruth Langsford causes upset amongst fans as show 'snubbed' by ITV

Ruth Langsford prompted audible groans from the Loose Women audience on Monday, as she broke major news right before credits rolled.

As the lunchtime discussion show kicked off a new week, ex This Morning presenter Ruth was at the head of the panel, joining co-stars Katie Piper, Janet Street-Porter and Brenda Edwards for an hour long live broadcast, which saw them discuss hot topics like Gary Lineker being 'reinstated' by the BBC and how a person's brain age can e very different to their actual age.

Proceedings wrapped up with Ruth chairing a discussion on whether the panel were fans of 'forced fun.' And, after Janet had the last word on the subject, Ruth had some bad news for viewers who love tuning into Loose Women every day.

Over the last few years, ITV have prompted some backlash from viewers for pulling Loose Women from the schedule to make way for live coverage of the Cheltenham Festival, with fans of the show arguing that the horse racing could go on ITV3 or ITV4 instead.

Well, there looks to be further anger this week as ITV have made exactly the same move as previous years, by shelving Loose Women for the rest of the week. Revealing the schedule change, Ruth told fans watching at home: "We are off for the rest of the week because of racing at Cheltenham, but we will be back next Monday."

Groans and 'ahhhhs' could be heard from the studio audience as Ruth delivered the news, with other regular viewers complaining about the move on Twitter.
