Loose Women's Linda Robson told to 'stop talking' as panelists row

Loose Women's Linda Robson came under fire from viewers over comments about Boris Johnson and the partygate scandal.

Thursday's instalment of the popular daytime show saw the panelists discussing whether or not the Prime Minister should resign after being fined by police for attending illegal gatherings during lockdown. Kaye Adams became quite emotional during the segment, which saw Linda defending the Prime Minister.

Linda said: "He didn't organise it though, he was ambushed with a cake". She also said "they were meeting everyday to discuss what was going on in the country anyway."

Nadia Sawalha said: "If you eat away at the law, then what do you get? It might seem like a small thing ... but it's not just one thing." Kaye Adams said: "I remember being in my car and you were only allowed to go five miles from home, and I was thinking 'am I five and a half miles away?' I was so scared and anxious and I remember that feeling so vividly."

Linda said: "He'd been in hospital a couple of weeks before, he nearly died. He made a mistake", but Kaye interjected: "This is a man who is a leader. Leaders should lead, and should show an example. Leaders should have integrity."

Many viewers at home were not happy with Linda's comments. Taking to Twitter, Stephanie said: "Listening to Linda is infuriating me. Stop making excuses [for Boris Johnson]."

Sara said: "He's not five-years-old for crying out loud. He's got a gob in his head. He should have said 'no' if he was ambushed by his cake! My son worked day in and day out with nurses and doctors, one of whom died. Did they have a party? No they didn't." Alexis simply said: "Oh Linda please stop talking!"

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
