Loose Women's Denise Welch takes stand against pledging allegiance for King Charles' Coronation

Loose Women star Denise Welch has taken a stand against pledging allegiance for King Charles and shared that she would rather support Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Yesterday (April 1) Loose Women aired on ITV and ahead of the King Charles’ Coronation, the panel discussed their opinions on whether they would be taking the suggested pledge of allegiance.

As reported by Chronicle Live, on Coronation day, Saturday, May 6, the public will be invited by Archbishop Justin Welby to join in the pledge from home and say: 'I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.'

Poll: Who is your favourite Royal? Have your say here

Host Ruth Langsford asked her co-hosts what they thought about pledging allegiance, Denise took a stand and said she will not take the pledge.

She said: "What do you think?" before saying: "Listen, I've got nothing against the Royal Family; however, of late, I am pledging allegiance, if any, to Harry and Meghan. Because of that, I won’t be pledging my allegiance. I don’t even know what you’re pledging for.”

Whilst Denise says she would rather support Harry and Meghan, as the days get closer to the Coronation a lot has been made about Prince Harry’s attendance at the Coronation and the fact that wife Meghan won't be attending, with her instead staying back in America with the couple's children.

Denise continued: "‘I am loyal and would pledge my allegiance to my family, and that’s all. I think it’s very outdated. I’m just not a fan of what’s going on at the moment… I wish them all the best in their king and queen-ness."
