Loose Women's Denise Welch hits back over 'expensive' new role on ITV show

Loose Women's Denise Welch has hit back at critics who were less than impressed with her "expensive" new role on the show.

The Geordie TV personality has been on the daytime programme for decades and has recently spent some time in America. Viewers have seen Denise reporting stateside in a number of Loose Women segments in recent weeks.

And while plenty of fans have loved these reports, some viewers have criticised them, Chronicle Live reports.

One Twitter user named 'Sunshine' said: "Can I ask who footed the bill to fly Denise to LA to walk round posh gaffs chatting tripe? What a waste of money." The scathing reaction didn't go unnoticed by Denise herself, who shot back: "Hi Jenny. Perhaps you’d like to change your Twitter handle."

Another user named Rachel said: "What on earth possessed #LooseWomen producers to think that anyone would want to watch Denise Welch interviewing her own husband in LA?"

However other viewers quickly defended Denise. Michelle said: "Stop worrying, you didn't pay for it", while Marie Johnston said: "Are you being forced to watch it? No you're not".

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
