Loose Women's Denise Welch 'crippled' with fear on flight from Newcastle

Denise Welch has revealed how she was often left 'crippled' with fear on flights from Newcastle, due to her extreme fear of flying and would be so scared that she'd end up 'terrifying' her fellow passengers.

The Loose Women star was back on the panel of the ITV lunchtime show for the second day in a row on Tuesday, joining colleagues Ruth Langsford, Janet Street-Porter and Kelle Bryan for the latest episode.

The show started with a discussion in response to Meghan Markle's father Thomas giving what he claimed would be his 'final' interview on American TV and saying how he refused to be 'buried' by his famous daughter while he was still alive.

A regular supporter of Meghan and husband Prince Harry,. Denise once again took Meghan's side in the long-standing family feud, before talk later moved onto how people can overcome their biggest fears.

And it was then that Denise opened up about her horrific fear of flying, which fortunately she has now got to grips with, but used to make flying a thoroughly traumatic experience for her.

Denise used the fact that she used to fly on 'little tiny planes' from Newcastle to Norwich, when Loose Women was based there, as an example of just how scared she used to be, joking that anyone sat next to her would end up with 'wounds' on their arms, from her clinging on to them so much.

She then added: "There was only a small curtain between the pilot and us and he used to, I swear, he used to go like this," as she gestured at opening a curtain: "Denise, I'm, putting the landing gear down. I knew it was the landing gear and I'm glad it was going down, but every time I screamed and terrified the other passengers!"

Denise finally got over her fear of flying, after going onto the waiting list for a book all about conquering it from her local library. Explaining how it helped her, Denise said: "It just explained, in such simple terms, the logistics and the physics of it."
