Loose Women's Coleen Nolan handed promotion after shake-up puts her in 'hot seat'

Coleen Nolan admitted to Loose Women viewers she'd been put in 'the hot seat,' on Tuesday after earning a promotion on the show, issuing a polite request to her colleagues within moments of cameras rolling.

The singer and Celebrity Big Brother star has been part of the furniture on the long-running ITV show for years now and, had already been on the panel just days earlier, before it was revealed that she would be the host, rather than just a panellist for the latest show. Confirmation of Coleen's boost up to Loose Women anchor came when This Morning presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary crossed live to the studio with just over half an hour of their own programme to go.

Viewers have come to expect either Ruth Langsford, Kay Adams, Christine Lampard or Charlene White to be the one leading proceedings on the lunchtime discussion show, so when they realised it was Coleen at the helm, many were quick to react online. Fully in favour of the move, one Coleen fan took to Twitter to post: "Oh yes day made my fave is anchor on #loosewomen, know you will be fab as per usual Coleen."

Also backing the change, a second tweeted: "my fave @NolanColeen as anchor, love it when Coleen anchors,..always does a fab job." And, in the opening moments of the show, as she took her seat at the head of the desk, Coleen remarked: "In the hit seat today, it's me, Coleen Nolan, so could I have your best behaviour girls, that'd be lovely."

Coleen's promotion comes days after she apologised to Loose Women guest Gail Porter after colleague Jane Moore, the host that day, gave her a cringe-worthy introduction. Gail was on the show to talk about her new series Spooky Scotland, and following a clip from an episode appearing on screen, Jane uttered: "Well here to tell us more, it's Gail...or should that be Ghoul Porter."

Then, as Gail made her way on set from behind the scenes, Coleen swiftly cut in to apologise, telling her "Sorry for all the really bad jokes from Jane," with co-star Linda then remarking: "It was them over there who wrote it honestly," as she pointed to the team across the studio
